Dr. Khater is a board certified radiation oncologist who is beginning his practice here in Ottawa. He was born and raised in Joliet, IL and completed his undergraduate training at Grinnell College in Iowa. He, then, received both his medical degree and doctorate degree in biophysics at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, IL. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Northwestern University and his residency in radiation oncology at Johns Hopkins University. At these institutions, Dr. Khater was able to be trained by leaders in the field of oncology; individuals who defined the standards of care in many areas. Upon finishing his residency, Dr. Khater became associate professor at The Medical College of Wisconsin where he was involved with program development and teaching of the biophysics course while being further exposed to leaders in the field.

While he enjoyed the academic side of medicine, he soon realized that what he most enjoyed was interacting and treating patients. Dr. Khater, therefore, decided to open up a radiation oncology department here in LaSalle County. He was involved from day one in the formation, planning and construction of Radiation Oncology of Northern Illinois. The department features a brand new treatment unit with technology and techniques that are found at major cancer centers around the country. This is his exclusive site of practice and Dr. Khater looks forward to many years of service to the community.
